Born and raised in Baltimore, MD, Nick has been a lifelong practitioner of martial arts. After studying traditional martial arts during his childhood, he discovered jiu jitsu at the age of 17 and completely fell in love with the style.
In order to pursue the sport at the highest level, he moved to Southern California to train with some of the top athletes in the sport. During that time, he competed in many countries across the world that introduced him to many great styles, competitors and cultures. He is a several time IBJJF Open Champion, multiple time American National Champion, and Adult No Gi World Champion.
He has instructed and ran programs at one of the best academies in the world for over a decade, working with students of every age and at every level - from day one beginners, all the way to advanced level competitors. As a coach, he has over 20 years of experience working and instructing large groups. He has helped shape multiple home grown champions, including adult and master world champions from white to black belt.
His biggest passion is learning and being able to share that knowledge with others. To see them be able to apply that knowledge and build themselves into stronger, more confident and all-around better people is the ultimate reward. He is constantly looking to refine his own personal philosophy and understanding of jiu jitsu in an open-minded way so that he can share that understanding with the community that they are growing here at Kobo Studios.
